Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Dutchess County residents can utilize our Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling events to dispose of unwanted electronic equipment, unused chemicals and fertilizers, and many other hazardous household items and materials. As part of Rethinking Waste, our 10-year solid waste management plan to increase recycling in Dutchess County, reduce our environmental footprint and create a more sustainable waste system, these biannual collection events serve as positive steps to help us achieve those goals.”

The Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling Event provides residents with a safe and responsible way to discard a diverse range of household items that cannot be disposed of through regular recycling or garbage bins. Acceptable items include television sets, computer monitors, telephones, pesticides, pool chemicals, and more. A complete list of acceptable items to bring to this disposal day is included below.

“By amending the 2016 County Budget, the Dutchess County Legislature provided funding to ensure this second collection event of the year could take place, showing the county’s commitment to reduce waste. All residents are encouraged to utilize these collection events so their unwanted materials and items can be safely recycled or disposed of,” said Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature Dale Borchert.

The Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management collection events are partially funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
